Gender Dysphoria and Sex

Just because you are trans* doesn’t mean you can not have a positive sex life or positive sex experiences. Many trans* people have great sex lives. Of coarse sex can often spark feelings of gender dysphoria. It’s okay to not be comfortable with sex whether it’s because of dysphoria, your age, or any other reason, that’s alright. If you do want to have sex you might want to ask yourself the following questions and share the answers with your partner BEFORE SEX. 

Is there any part of my body I don’t want touched?
What kind of language do I want to use/do I want my partner to use when talking about my body and sexual acts? (ex. cock, vagina, penis, junk, boobs, pecs, blow jobs, hand jobs, fingering, ect)
Are there any sexual acts I’m not comfortable performing?
Are there any sexual acts I’m not comfortable receiving?
Am I comfortable taking my clothes off? 

Asking yourself these questions, and any other questions you might have, and sharing the answers with your sexual partner can help keep dysphoria away during sex and give you a positive sex experience. 

Remember that sometimes you can be triggered anyways. Even if boundaries are respected it might just happen, make sure you and your partner understand this.
